Wendy from African Safari Experts curated our recent trip to Africa where we Safaried in Tanzania then stayed in Cape Town and Franschhoek in South Africa. This trip was perfect and far exceeded our expectations. Wendy's knowledge and experience with Africa was evident with her choice of operators and the detailed planning of the trip, Wendy's willingness to listen to what we wanted to see and her suggestions based on that were spot on. My sincere thanks to Wendy and African Safari Experts for arranging the perfect African Safari adventure for myself and my son. From beginning to end we were welcomed and cared for. The personal touches that Wendy included along the way took our experience to way beyond our expectations. The wildlife experience itself was simply breathtaking and we were so well cared for and informed that I did not once feel any anxiety or concern about our safety in this amazing country. The accommodation in all places was exceptional and the food was delicious and abundant. We loved everywhere we went with each place being an adventure in its own right, but we both have particularly warm memories of Lion Camp. Wendy curated the most incredible trip for us. We can’t stop thinking about it, talking about it, and re-living every moment. In the lead up to the trip, we made things tricky with unforeseen changes to who was travelling but Wendy and her suppliers handled everything with patience, empathy and determination. The trip was incredible and unforgettable. Highlights include the Genocide Museum in Rwanda, trekking and spending time with the Gorilla family in their natural habitat, where we each experienced emotional connections and new bonds. We didn’t want to leave, and our brilliant guides really had to coax us back to reality! Staying at The River Camp in Kenya, where the place, people and food were all incredible, we watched the animals drinking at the river waterhole while we dined. Early morning and night safaris, lions and cheetahs feeding and all the baby animals made this trip so special. We even got to see the last two white Rhinos in the world at the Conservancy. After the River Camp, we headed off to the Great Plains at the Maasai Mara. Wow! Ending the trip in old-world safari luxury, with comfortable vehicles and a Maasai host, two game drives per day and a champagne breakfast surrounded by the most gorgeous scenery, wildlife and warm staff that felt like family. No detail was overlooked, including the airport collection and drop offs, which felt like true concierge service. We feel incredibly blessed. Wendy was amazing from start to finish of our safari trip—everything organized seamlessly from stepping on the plane to getting back home to Melbourne. I have assigned 5 stars as there is no provision for 6; you can see where this review is going. Wendy as the founder of Africa Safari Experts blew the doors off this one and improved even more on previous African trips she has coordinated for us. There is a reason we only use her! The trip was first rate on all accounts and included a Masai Mara safari in Kenya, trekking in Rwanda to see the mountain  gorillas and some follow up R&R in Morocco. Wendy is across the details to an extent rarely seen these days: the accommodations, the guides, the transfers, the constant refinements to make sure it all went smoothly are just some of the features. How she arranged for the zebras to be munching the grass outside our tented camp or for the lightening to light up the evening sky as we followed a pride of lions is beyond me - she has real pull somewhere. (I was a little disappointed the silverback didn't charge at us at least once, so there is room for improvement.) You can tell she's lived in Africa and has been immersed in safari adventures; Wendy is no armchair pilot.In short we were brought inside a series of very special experiences by virtue of her deep knowledge  of travel in Africa...   ...and isn't this what you want in a trip like this? We left Africa with a real sense of being privileged to see all we had seen and to meet the crews and fellow travellers we did. This doesn't happen by accident and it takes real skill to organise a trip like this. [As a side note, we were due to fly back to Australia via Dubai when the war broke out; Wendy worked tirelessly over that weekend -before we had even asked her - to ensure we had safe alternative flights arranged that bypassed the Middle East. I was so relieved we had her on our side here!] Wendy made this all happen for us and we have zero hesitation in recommending her to other discerning travellers - be it your first trip to Africa or your 10th.

We can’t thank Wendy at Africa Safari Experts enough for curating our ‘Out of Africa’ experience. There was not one hiccup. It is hard to put into words how much our African adventure has touched us. Rwanda and Kenya have a spirit that is intangible, yet so powerful. It is impossible to single out a trip highlight except that to have both our girls and their partners with us enhanced every moment, truly unforgettable. We could not fault any of the staff, their attention to detail and service was exceptional they really would do anything to make our trip perfect. The ‘meet and greet’ at every port was the icing on the cake that created a seamless travel experience and we were so grateful that they were there. Singita in Rwanda was outstanding and such a contrast to what we were doing during the day, trekking through the jungle in search of our gorilla troop. Our encounters with the gorillas were incredible. So strong and majestic yet gentle and so beautiful, we could not believe how close we were. So many friends have asked if we were afraid whilst on safari or trekking, but our amazing guides made us feel safe at all times. Singita sits at 10,000 feet, so the air is thin and also very chilly in the mornings and at night. Our Kenyan safari adventures were so different and to see our leopard, cheetahs and baby rhino were all ‘pinch yourself’ moments. Plus floating over the Maasai Mara at dawn in hot air balloons, giving us such a different perspective of such a vast landscape. Tambarare camp in Kenya was wonderful, Eunice and her staff were great but Mara Expedition Camp in the Masai was exceptional. It ticked all the boxes. The gorgeous colonial styling and wonderful staff who kept surprising us with lavish picnic breakfasts and dinners under the stars. The name of our ‘person’ at Mara was Happy and that has become our catchphrase for our trip. Happy, happy, happy. I was so overwhelmed when we left Mara that I shed a tear, so sad that the trip was over but also leaving these beautiful people and all the animals behind.
