Be welcomed at the airport and transferred 30 minutes by road to Flatdogs Camp. Meet the friendly team and check into your luxury en-suite safari tent which offers you a back to nature taste of the wild, with large windows all around the tent so you can see and hear the animals feeding in camp as well as the hippopotamus honking to each other in the river in front of you. Day 2: Morning and afternoon game drives

Up early for a light breakfast before heading out on your morning game drive to explore the magic of the South Luangwa National Park. Blessed with an abundance of varied animals and bird life including the ever popular zebra, Thornicroft giraffe, lions, leopard, Cape buffalo, elephants, warthogs, Puku, hippos, crocodiles, baboons and the elusive African wild dogs and more. You will head back to camp at around 10.00am in time for breakfast or a brunch/lunch type meal then there is time to relax during the heat of the day, enjoying a dip in the pool or a siesta after your early start. Meet again in the courtyard for tea at 330pm, then head into the Park at 4.00pm ready to explore this magnificent wilderness. The Flatdogs guides take huge pride in their work, being able to identify numerous alarm calls and to track animals and try to anticipate their next move so as to position you for the best sightings. As the sun starts to dip towards the horizon, your guide will find a good spot to stop so you can stretch your legs and watch the sun set with a cold drink in hand… Then, once it’s nearly dark, you will carry on game-viewing with a spotlight, searching for some of our interesting nocturnal residents, like the leopard, lion, porcupine, civet, genet, owls and hyena. Return to camp at around 8.00pm in time to enjoy dinner in the candle lit courtyard or restaurant.

Day 3: Games drives and Community Conservation Experience

Included is your transport and presentations at Mulberry Mongoose, Project Luangwa, Mfuwe Day Secondary School and the Conservation South Luangwa (CSL) anti-poaching base. All fascinating and educational experiences while giving you a personal insight into life in a rural and remote Zambia community. Meet up in the courtyard for afternoon tea at 330pm, then head into the Park at 4.00pm ready to explore this magnificent wilderness. Afternoon game drive and return to camp at around 8.00pm in time to enjoy dinner in the candle lit courtyard or restaurant.

Day 4 - 8: Transfer from Flatdogs Camp to Luambe Camp

After your 3 night stay at Flatdogs Camp today your driver will pick you up for your road transfer to Luambe Camp approx. 4 hours. Sightseeing along the journey through villages, the Nsefu Sector, the banks of the Luangwa River before entering the gates of the Luambe National Park and onto camp. There are only 4 safari tents at the camp, so a maximum of 8 guests to enjoy the Park to themselves. The camp has been designed to take in the stunning sweep of the Luangwa in front, with its enormous pod of hippo gathered together in incredible numbers, adding to your sense of discovery as you arrive. The tents use solar lighting and water heating and have en-suite facilities. From camp, the daily routine is similar to that at Flatdogs, with morning and afternoon activities organized for you, to take in as much of this beautiful wilderness as possible. Activities are mostly game drives, but with the opportunity to do some walking as well. Luambe is so isolated that you have a real feeling of discovery as you explore the Park - you could be the first to find a new waterhole or an owl’s nest or sign of roan and eland, the Park has been so untouched over the years.
